I spoke with our contact at Hopkins and he confirmed that on the Active Tail Light Converter # 46255, the lead power wire is 14 gauge and the remaining wires are 18 gauge.

If you are looking for a bit of a higher gauge wire, you can use the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT. The kit includes two 12 gauge wires (black and white). The other three color wires in the kit are 18 gauge.
