Will a Rack and Gear Jack Rated for 750 Pounds Work on a 2,600 Pound Trailer

Published 01/06/2017

Question:

Do they make the 19 inch lift 1200 pound bulldog trailer jack with a side mount 4inch bolt on frame mount similar to the 750 pound model? I have a 22 foot center console that weighs approximately 2600 pounds on a tandem axle trailer. Do you think the 750 pound bolt on model would work? I need the trailer tongue to be jacked very low to accommodate the slope of the storing location. It currently has a swivel jack but cannot go low enough to on the hitch and swivel out of the way needs approximately 1 and 1/2 inch lower to accomplish the task.

Since the trailer jack is only lifting a portion of the weight it is possible that a 750 pound rack and gear jack, see link, could work. If the gross trailer weight is 2,600 pounds then that would put the tongue weight somewhere around 260 to 390 pounds which is well within the capabilities of a 750 pound jack.

There are some options that bolt around the frame such as # BD169201 or a weld-on/bolt-on option, # BD162300.
