Information on the Recordings for Rear View Safety G-Series Backup Camera System

Question:
This kit has a rear backup assist camera and built in dash camera. When the trigger is wired into the reverse lights, this only signals the monitor to show the driver the rear facing camera, correct? Do both channels continually record even though I may only be in forward drive? And can both channels be viewed if desired, even if vehicle is not in reverse? Thanks for your service!

There are several different settings for the DVR of the rear view camera part # RVS-776718-BB. You can set it up to auto record everything when the monitor is powered on and then auto delete things at a certain time so that you are constantly able to keep a recording of what's happening. There's even a setting that allows an auto record any time the mirror experiences a strong acceleration, deceleration or excessive shaking. The event file is locked and cannot be overwritten in record cycle mode. It can only be manually deleted or formatted.
You can even set up the camera to record for a set amount of time when the vehicle is turned off.
This only records the front facing camera.
