Recommended Hitch Mount Bike Rack for 2015 Honda Pilot

Published 12/08/2016

Question:

I want to order a bike rack for my 2015 Honda Pilot. I want a hitch type. Im not sure about what my hitch size is because I have not taken off the panel that hides the hitch. I have a call out to the Honda dealership to check on that. What would be a good hitch? I have two bikes but may want the flexibility to add on. What is your recommendation? I dont know if it matters but I have a mans townie bike.

The 2015 Honda Pilot came standard with a Class III trailer hitch receiver, which is a 2 inch hitch.

For a hitch mount bike rack that holds more than two bikes I would look at the Rola TX # 59401. This carries up to 4 bikes and will tilt away from you Pilot to give you more access to the rear hatch. The Rola TX includes anti-sway cradles and a cable lock that stores inside the upright support arm.

A second option with a bit more features is the Yakima RidgeBack # Y02458. The RidgeBack also carries 4 bikes and will tilt away from the vehicle. It also includes a SpeedKnob lock to secure the rack to your Pilot.

Since both racks are hanging racks you will likely need an adapter bar like the Kuat Uber # UB01. An adapter bar will provide a straight cross tube for bikes that do not have one. Without the straight cross tube bikes do not have a great mounting point on the racks so they will not ride level.
