Camco RV Fresh Water System Backflow Preventer # CAM23402 is just a regular brass fitting; there is nothing special about it that would keep it from being used on the hot water tank outlet. It is a standard MPTxFPT fitting, 3/4 inches in diameter (for a 3/4 inch hose). I have linked a video with more information for you.
