Hello, I have a technical question regarding the use of the Firestone F2320 air bag system in conjunction with outboard mounted Reese 5th wheel frame bracket #56007. Will these two products work together on my 2003 Chevy Z71 1500 Silverado? My concerns is the Firestone air bag mounts will need to go on top outside of the Reese brackets. Will this extra thickness be an issue with the air bags and will I be able to reach the nuts on the inside of the frame? I could always tap threads into the 5th wheel plate to attached the air bag brackets if needed. Thoughts? Regards

The Firestone Sport-Rite Air Helper Springs you mentioned F2320, along with the Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Brackets for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP56007 are not compatible on your 2003 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 1500. I contacted the manufacturer to confirm this was the case and their tech said unfortunately they utilize the same space and can't be used together. It is not recommended to stack the brackets and will void the warranty.
If you have a 4x4, there is another Air Spring option that will fit your vehicle. Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs with Internal Jounce Bumpers, # AL88272. This Air Spring is actually mounted under the frame where the jounce spring is installed, so you will attach the brackets at that same location. These air springs have the benefit of the jounce bumper on the inside of the air bag so that you have a fail-safe if the air springs lose pressure. Unfortunately this Air Lift system will not fit on a 2 wheel drive model.
There are options outside of air springs that you may consider that will still enhance the life and load of your factory suspension. An option that offers a similar adjustability is the RoadActive Suspension Kit, # RAS4611. This converts your basic leaf springs into mechanically active suspension. It adds critical strength without compromising ride quality. They are easy to install without welding, drilling, or cutting and are a confirmed fit for your vehicle that avoids the frame completely. This will give you the support you desire as well as the adjustability you were seeking in the air springs.
