Reese 5th Wheel Base Rail Compatability for 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 6 Foot Bed

Would the rail kit I had in my 2005 1500 2 wd Silverado long bed, fit in my 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 4 wd 6foot bed? I have a Reese 16K slider hitch. Thanks

If you know you have Reese base rails on your 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500, then yes, you can re-use your base rails. If you had the universal installation kit that used 4 L-brackets on your Chevy (one at the end of each base rail), then it will be a fit to reinstall on your 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 6 foot bed. You will however need a special mounting bracket, # RP58023, to fit your Ram and a new hardware kit, # 58164 because the old hardware would have required being torqued down so I don't recommend using that old hardware.

If you are unsure if you had Reese base rails and may have had a different brand, I would recommend purchasing the entire Reese Semi-Custom Base Rail Kit # RP30035-023. That kit includes the rails, hardware, and mounting brackets to fit your Reese 16K slider hitch and your 2006 Dodge Ram 1500.

If you have the larger custom-fit Reese mounting brackets, they are not interchangeable between these trucks. If you have the Reese base rails, you can use the Reese custom brackets for the Dodge # RP50040, or you can get an entirely new custom install kit.

For a complete kit that is a custom fit for your 2006 Dodge Ram, I'd suggest # RP50040-58. This will have the custom brackets and hardware. I've included a video of an installation of this custom kit for you.
