Question:
Is there a requirement on the strength of a connector used from the cable of the break-away switch to the vehicle?

Expert Reply:
The connector used should be capable of pulling the pin from the switch at any reasonable angle. You will also want it to be secure enough that you will not lose the cable and pin in the unfortunate event of a breakaway.
Many people just put the cable through the chain loop on the hitch and then run the pin through the small loop in the end of the cable. This secures the cable to the hitch and no other parts are needed. In this configuration you need to mount the switch close enough to the coupler to make the connection.
A Quick Link, item # C82931, would be plenty strong for attaching the safety cable to the vehicle also.
