What you need is an extender instead of an adapter. The Buyers Products # 337RTA302, is an adapter that takes a 3-inch trailer hitch receiver opening and reduces it down to a 2-inch opening. Unless you have a 3-inch receiver opening on your 2003 Chevy Suburban, the # 337RTA302 will not work.
I have included a link to the available hitch extenders below. The shortest extender we carry for 2-inch receivers is the 7-inch Brophy # HE06 and will fit into a 2-inch receiver and has a 2-inch opening. When using a hitch extender, the tongue weight capacity of the vehicle trailer hitch will be reduced by 50 percent. You will have to make sure the tongue weight of a trailer or any accessories does not exceed the reduced tongue weight capacity of the hitch.
