It depends on the connector and what it accepts. You usually don't see wiring larger than 10 gauge in use on a trailer because the larger the wire the harder it is to push electricity back on that wire. Automotive grade 10 gauge wire such as # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) at a length of 20 feet can handle up to about 46 amps so it does a good job in that regard.
