I wanted to see if the roof box will fit the legacy with out any additional hardware to buy.

In order to carry the cargo box on the roof of your 2012 Subaru Legacy you will need a roof rack like the SportRack Roof Rack # SR1010. That's assuming you have all of the hardware that came with the cargo box and it will mount to square cross bars.

If not you can get the Trunx Rooftop Cargo Box - 18 cu ft - Black # TRX34FR, which is an economical roof box that will fit the roof rack.
