I am concerned about the compatibility of this hitch to my car. Also, how hard and expensive will it be to attach this to my car?

The Thule Doubletrack Pro XT Bike Carrier for 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch Hitches - Hitch Mount part # TH92BJ, is compatible with your 2005 Nissan Maxima as long as you have an appropriate hitch to mount it to.
We recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch for the 2005 Maxima by Nissan part # C11264, which has been rated at having an installation difficulty of 6 out of 10, and should about an hour to install for someone who is mechanically inclined, it may also be helpful if you had an extra person to help hold the hitch while it is being bolted into place.
