Question:
hello, i am moving across country and then back next year. i have a mercedes C class but didnt want to buy the roof rail system, would a waterproof canvas cargo bag work without a rail system? is this a silly idea? i was simply going to fill it with vacuum sealed bags containing clothing. any advice would be appreciated. thanks!

For a low-cost and non-permanent rooftop cargo solution for your cross-country trip in your 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, a water-proof cargo bag like the Rightline # RL100S20 (15-cubic-feet) or the 18-cu-ft # RL100S30 is a great solution. These bags are great for use on cars without roof racks. You can click on the linked video to see them in action.
These Rightline bags feature UV-resistant and watertight woven polyester/PVC material and double-sealed seams to protect your belongings. Providing further water-protection by using vacuum-sealed bags is an excellent idea.
To protect the car's roof and to hold the bag steady you can use the Non-Skid Roof Protection Pad # RL100650. We also always recommend making sure that the car's roof and the protective pad are very clean and free of any grit that could act like an abrasive during travel.
