Can i use this for 1 kayak? It looks like it would actually be secure using this on my Subaru Forester for lighter kayak. What do you think?

The Rhino Rack # RRRWP03 can indeed be used for a kayak. I'd also recommend using a bow/stern tie down, like part # Y04031.
