Question:

Which hitch is better the Curt 13147 or Draw-Tite 75650. I want to buy a hitch for my 2010 Subaru Forester but want to see some reviews to determine which is the best. I found one site but I think it is sponsered by Curt Hitches.

The Curt part # 13147 and Hidden Hitch part 87493 are similar designs as they are built to fit the same vehicles. There are a couple of key differences that may help you in making a decision.

Curt uses a high-gloss black finish on their hitches and the Hidden Hitch is not so glossy. If you want a duller finish go with the Hidden Hitch. If you like high-gloss black, use the Curt. Additionaly, in this model, Curt uses round tube for the cross member and Hidden Hitch uses square tube. You will see a lot of discussion as to which is better, they both have their merits and both can be made very strong.

Ultimately to determine the strength of the hitch, you should look at the manufacturer provided weight capacity. If you need the most capacity, the Curt offers a 400 pound tongue weight capacity and a 4,000 gross towing weight capacity. The Draw-Tite is 600/4000. Now you may not need the full capacity or your Forester may not be able to handle that load, see owenrs manual, but it is something to consider.

Another difference is that the warranty for the Curt hitch states that a stabilizing strap like # 18050 must be used for non-trailer loads such as bike racks or cargo carriers. The Draw-Tite hitch has no such requirement. If I had to choose, I'd go with the Draw-Tite model so I didn't have to fool with the strap.
