Compatibility of Yakima FullSwing Hitch Bike Rack with Class III Hitch on 2014 GMC Acadia
Question:
Will the Yakima fullswing work and function properly with this hitch? I have a 2014 GMC Acadia SLT. Also is it really necessary to drop the muffler? I saw some reviews where the person said that they did not need to do it for the install. Thanks.

Installation of Class III hitch # 75528 will be easier if you pop the exhaust free of its rubber hangers but this may not be essential for all instances. This simple step just makes it easier to gain access to the mounting points on the frame. An install video, helpful article and the manufacturer's instructions are linked to give you some guidance for the installation process.
As shown in the video at the :27-second mark the hitch will mount such that its hitch pin hole will be 4-3/4-inches from the rear edge of the bumper cover. This means you'll want to choose a bike rack that provides a bit more clearance than this, say 6-inches or more, to avoid any chance of the rack contacting the vehicle bumper.
The Yakima Full-Swing # Y02465 provides 9-inches of clearance so it is an excellent choice for a full-featured 4-bike hitch rack to use on your Acadia in your Class III Hidden Hitch.
