Will Craftec Tonneau Cover Fit a 1998 Ford Ranger Stepside with Side and Rear Rail Caps

Question:
1998 Ford Ranger Stepside with side rail covers and tailgate rail, the truck has no front bed cap, do i need a front bed cap to level out with side caps ? How much trimming is required on ths side rail caps plastic and with what tools do i need.

I spoke with my contact at Craftec for you about cover # 153923 and your 1998 Ford Ranger stepside with rail caps. Basically, they take into account up to a 1/4 inch tall cap (spacers are included) but if the caps are higher than that they would have to be removed or trimmed down for the cover to fit.
Trimming them level is the difficult part. If they are plastic you could probably just sand them down. Otherwise a rotary tool that can grind them down some is an option. Or you would just remove them.
The cap not being at the front of the bed was not an issue but it would be more level and work better if the front did have a cap.
