Question:
I have a Prodigy P2 brake controller and from time to time I get a display of ._._ instead of .c., any idea what this indicates? Thanks!

For the Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Connector # 90885, the controller should first read n.c. for 15 seconds before changing to 2 dots with no letters, _._. When the brake controller reads 2 dots with no letters, it is an indication that the brake controller does not have a connection with the trailer. I have attached a cutting from the installation instructions explaining the displays. The instructions are also linked for you.
I confirmed with my contact at Tekonsha that the only meaning of the 2 dots display is that the controller first displayed n.c. for 15 seconds, then switched to _._., indicated the trailer is not connected.
If you only see the _._. display when the trailer is not connected, your controller is working properly.
If your controller is switching back and forth between being connected to the trailer and not being connected while you are towing, I recommend checking your trailer wiring connector and vehicle connector inside and out for any dirt, debris, or corrosion that could be causing a weak or spotty signal between the connectors. If you find any dirt or corrosion, try cleaning the connectors so the brake controller can have a solid connection with the trailer.
If the P2 is still having trouble maintaining a connection to the trailer after the connectors are clean, or if you didn't find any dirt or corrosion, feel free to let me know and we can look into further troubleshooting.
