Will Using a 5th Airborne Replacement Pin Box Raise the Height at the Front of a 5th Wheel Trailer

Updated 03/28/2016 | Published 03/24/2016

Question:

Trailer is a Forest River 2016 Wildcat 295rsx. Truck is a 2015 GMC 2500HD Diesel 4x4 with Airbags. Current setup is a Mor/Ryde std. pinbox Lippert 1621 compatible being towed with the Andersen Ulitimate Fifth Wheel hitch. Pinbox is at highest bolts and Andersen adjustable top ball is set at lowest setting. My trailer to bed clearance and trailer to cab clearance is fine and Ive towed 12000 miles this way. I still get some chucking on bad roads and bridge expansion joints so Im thinking of changing to the Reese Airborne. I like the Reese because unlike the Trail Airs massive height, with the Reeses cushion and shock interior to the pin box, it looks like I wont have the problem of raising my trailer nose and being more off level when I tow. Currently I tow at about 1 to 2 inches off level. Will the 16K Reese Airborne raise my trailer nose?

The 5th Airborne replacement pin box # 5AB-E1621-16K should not raise (or lower) the height of the trailer. It basically has the same measurements as the stock pin box would have. Adjusting the air pressure and position of the air bag in the pin box could affect the ride height at the front of the trailer.
