According to my information the wiring harness # 118426 is not a confirmed fit for your 2004 Ford Escape, but I do have a wiring solution for you.
If your Escape XLT has the factory tow package then the wiring harness you will need is Curt # C55255. If your XLT does not have the factory tow package then you will need the Hopkins # 46255 wiring harness.
