Can the Masterlock Electric Trailer Winch Be Used in Reverse to Pay Cable Out of the Winch

I understand this winch only runs one way and that to pay out cable, you release the clutch and let cable run out freely... Most DC motors will run in reverse if + and - are reversed is it possible to reverse + and - battery connectors and run this winch backwards, say, to ease a boat trailer down a ramp?

For powering loads in and out I recommend the Superwinch LT2000 Electric Utility Winch, 2,000 lbs, item # 1120210, which also includes a freespooling clutch for fast payout.
The Master Lock Electric Winch,Trailer Winch, item # 2953AT, is designed for power load in only. I cannot recommend any modification or alternate use of the winch other than what the manufacturer recommends.
