Question:
Hello, I have a 2010 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring. It states it comes with a towing prep package. What is this and does it include any of the wiring such as a lead to the battery? Thank you for any help.

I did a little research and found that the towing package for the 2010 Mazda CX-9 includes:
1. A heavy duty transmission oil cooler and radiator fan
2. A revised engine control module (probably means that the computer has been programmed to be more effective when towing)
3. And a 3,500 pound towing capacity
The package does not include a wiring harness for towing. To add one, you will need the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118520, that you have referenced. This will add a 4-Way trailer connector at the rear of the CX-9. Installation is fairly simple. First, disconnect the battery. The T-style connectors plug in line with your vehicle taillights and the converter box will attach to the metal on the drivers side.
You will need to route the power wire under the vehicle and up through the engine compartment, avoiding any areas that might pinch or burn the wire along the way. Under the hood, pull the wire up and near the battery. Connect this wire to the yellow wire with fuse holder (take the fuse out for now). Connect the other end of the yellow wire and fuse holder to the positive battery terminal. Insert the fuse and reconnect the battery to complete the installation. I have included a link to the installation details below.
