The answer to your question will depend on what kind of factory connector your 7-way plugs into.
If the connector that plugs directly into the rear of your 7-way trailer connector is round, then the Hopkins # HM50002 Smart Hitch Backup Camera system will be a plug and play installation. If the connector plugs into a rectangular connector, you can simply replace the existing 7-way with part # HM40975-11933 which will plug into the rectangular connector while providing a round connector that would allow the Smart Hitch Camera wiring harness to plug inline.
In the video I've linked, when we installed the camera system onto a 2009 Ram, the connector that the 7-way was plugged into was rectangular, so our installer had to do some splicing, as you can see in the video I've linked for you.
