The problem that you are experiencing could be due to a loss of power that could be the result of a problem with the ground or power wires for the Even Brake # RM-9400 transmitter # RM-9420. You mentioned that you checked the ground and power wires. But try moving the ground to a different location where it could have a more efficient connection.
You will also want to check the breakaway pin and make sure it is all the way in the switch. You can also inspect its wiring and repair as needed. The problem could also be the result of the system sensing a low voltage battery. The Even Brake gets power from the vehicle battery so you could test the battery and charge or replace it as needed.
There is also a fuse inside the power supply for the Even Brake. You could take it out and replace if it appears blown. The small barrel fuses are available at auto parts stores in various sizes.
If this does not help there are additional troubleshooting steps in the manual linked for reference. Since it has been 2 years you may need to re-setup the system, as if it is the first time you are using the system, according to the steps in the linked manual.
