Can the LED Light Ford Emblem be Installed on a 2016 Ford Explorer Sport

Will this product work on the 2016 Ford Explorer Sport? If so, will the installation require any additional light modules. Where will the wiring tie in, since the rear light buckets are not in the hatch-back. Will I have to drill a hole to access any wires to tie into the tail/turn/brake light circuits?

You could technically install the Ford lighted emblem # RP86620 on any vehicle, including your 2016 Ford Explorer Sport. To determine if it fits in the same space as an existing emblem you can go by the measurements. The lighted emblem is 9 inches across and 3-1/2 inches tall.

If the light functions do not run through the hatch then you would have to route the wiring up through the interior of the hatch to the roof line and then route the wires left or right and down to either tail light assembly to power the emblem. This will likely require drilling unless you can pull a panel off of the interior of the hatch and just route the wires behind it.

There isn't any additional converter needed. It comes with the parts you will need. You will need to splice into the tail light wiring behind one of the tail lights. Since the emblem is LED it won't overdraw the lighting system on the vehicle.
