I have a roof rack that will fit your 2006 BMW X5 with the raised rails that run front to back.
The Thule Roof Rack consists of the Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401, 53" WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711420, as well as locks # TH450400. The roof rack come with an all the hardware you need to install on your vehicle.
When using a roof cargo carrier you will always want to check your owners manual for the maximum weight capacity that the roof of you 2006 BMW X5 can hold.
Most of the roof cargo carriers will attach to the Thule and the Yakima cross bars. The Thule Roof Cargo Carrier, # TH6358B, that you have referenced will work fine on either the Thule or Yakima roof racks.
