The factory plug location to plug in a brake controller on a 2016 Ford Explorer is up above and behind the brake pedal. You will likely have to remove a panel to access it. For a brake controller I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable. For a wiring harness use # 3035-P.
