Fastway actually does use stainless steel hitch balls.

They offer many of their ball mounts like the # DTALBM6600 with the chrome plated steel balls, and if you prefer, the same ball mount with the same features is available with stainless steel hitch balls. That is part # DTALBM6600-2S.

I called my contact at Fastway and they told me that they offer the chrome plated as a more cost-efective option.
