To install the Fulton Fold-Away Hinge Kit, # FHDPB230101, you would need to cut the tongue at the point you want it to pivot. Then, slide the two sides of the hinge over the newly cut ends of the tongue. They slide on about 3 inches on each side. To find the maximum pivot length for your trailer, use the table at the bottom of the product page for Fulton Fold-Away Hinge Kit, # FHDPB230101.

I just purchased a Malone Megasport trailer (mpg535) from etrailer and put it together yesterday. I would like to purchase the Fulton Fold-away coupler kit for a 2" x 3" tongue so I can store the trailer more easily. Is the gauge of the steel of the tongue of the Megasport sufficient to meet the minimum requirements of the coupler? Since the Megasport is rated at a 1000 lb capacity, it seems like I could make the hinge at 48" is that correct? Thanks!
