The most common way to carry a canoe on a vehicle is by using a roof rack. If your 2008 Nissan Rogue does NOT have side rails that run front to back then I recommend Rhino-Rack Euro-style system using the following parts:
Aero Crossbars # RRVA126B-2
Feet # RRRLKVA
Fit kit # DK146
Then you could add the Thule Portage # TH819.
If the Rogue has side rails on the roof then you could use SportRack roof rack # SR1098.
To make loading the canoe easier you could use the Rhino-Rack T-Load, # RTL002. But you would need a trailer hitch such as # 75902 if you don't already have a hitch. I have linked videos showing how the hitch installs and how the T-Load works.
The other option is to use the trailer hitch and put the canoe on a trailer such as the Rack and Roll trailer # Y08106. I have linked a video review of this trailer for you.
