Travel Trailer Back-up Camera Recommendation for Rear of Trailer

Published 08/18/2015

Question:

Do you have a back up camera that I can mount on my travel trailer bumper that I can monitor in my tow vehicle? The wireless camera I have seen so far are just for the tow vehicles.

We have two completely wireless options that would work well for you. The first would be the SwiftHitch Portable Camera w/ Night Vision, part # SH01-C. This wireless system the camera uses has a 300 foot range which will be reduced somewhat by the trailer, but it would be an excellent choice for the rear of your travel trailer. The batteries will last up to 10 hours.

If you have an Andriod or iOS smart phone, Rampage offers the Wireless Backup Camera System, part # RA7710. The camera would use your smart phone as the monitor. This camera system is less expensive than the SwiftHitch, but the battery life would be limited to a maximum of 4 hours.

If you typically take shorter trips and you have an iPhone or Android based phone, the Rampage system would work well but for longer trips, the SwiftHitch model would be preferable.
