Will SilentACT # SHP2082 Hitch Pin Work with SportRack Pathway 3 Deluxe # SR2703 Bike Rack

Question:

The pathway deluxe 3 model sr2703 already comes with a anti rattle hitch pin but I want to use this tool less model. Do you know or have tried to screw this pin into the sr2703 hitch tube? Would be great to use this instead of carrying a wrench.

The SportRack # SR2703 uses a proprietary anti-rattle bolt, the # SHP2082 would not be compatible. The shank of the bike rack is threaded on the interior, so the SilentACT lock wouldn't work.

The fact that a wrench is needed tor remove the pin actually offers you some theft deterrence. I used to use a bike rack that used a hitch bolt that installed using a wrench. I picked up an inexpensive ratchet and socket and kept it in the rear of the vehicle, which allowed me to install and remove the bolt pretty quickly.

SportRack also offers a locking bolt, part # SR0901 that offers additional theft deterrence.
