Question:
I mistakenly bought a 4 flat connector and the tandem trailer needs a 5 flat connector. Im told to cut off the new 4 flat and replaced it with a 5 flat. So far so good. Im told I need to connect the blue wire not sure where this comes from to the reverse brake light wire on the Honda. So I need to know where that wire is on the Honda. Make sense? Can you help me?

It sounds to me like you are converting a 4-way flat connector on your 2009 Honda Pilot to a 5-way flat connector like part # HM37908 in order to tow your tandem trailer with a 5 way connector. If this is the case, the extra blue wire (used for reverse lockout on coupler) coming off of the new connector will just need to be spliced into the reverse light circuit on the Pilot. In most cases you can tap into this circuit right behind your tail lights. You'll want to use a circuit tester like the Quickee, # 3808, to determine that you have the right circuit. The best way would be to have a helper put his/her foot on the brake, put the vehicle in reverse, and then test for the circuit that has power.
If you have not already removed the 4-way connector, you could also use Tow Ready 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter, # 20036. You would still need to splice the blue wire into the reverse circuit but the adapter would just plug right into the 4-way, no additional wiring needed.
