Troubleshooting RV Battery That is Hot and Smoking that is Run in Parallel

Question:
I have RV with two 12 Volt Batteries wired in parallel, one gets very hot, could this be because battery fried?

The smoking battery suggests that maybe you hooked up the battery backwards.
Many people assume that red is positive and black is negative. RVs are wired similar to houses thus they do not have the same wiring colors as a vehicle. Never just assume the red wire is positive and the black is negative.
