Question:
I am installing a backup camera and need a connector like provided on the Hopkins Smart backup camera kit in order to tie into the reverse circuit. Is the Hopkins connector available or, if not, will the T-One connector harness do the job.

Hopkins doesn't sell the connector included with their Smart Hitch back up camera as a separate item. Your best bet would be to simply locate the circuit that powers the reverse lights on your 2009 Dodge Ram and tap the wire into that circuit as shown in the diagram I provided.
To locate the correct circuit, peel back the wire loom on the wiring harness that feeds your trailer connector. Use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 and probe the wires as a helper shifts the transmission in reverse. The wire that shows power when the backup lamps come on is the reverse lamp circuit. In many cases, Dodge used a Violet colored wire for the reverse light circuit but be sure to test as the manufacturer can always change the wire color.
A T-1 connector handles the right turn, left turn, brake lamp and running lights. It won't provide access to the reverse light circuit.
