Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2004 Nissan Maxima
Question:
I would like to buy a thule T2 bike rack but I don't have a hitch. I'd like to be able to carry two or three bikes, and I'm not sure whether that would be the correct model for my Maxima. I also don't know what kind of hitch I should buy. Please help. Thank you.

For your 2004 Nissan Maxima, let us start with a hitch. The hitch offered for your vehicle is the Curt Class 1 Hitch # C11264. This is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. It has a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds, and a tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds. I have included a link to the installation instructions below.
With this hitch installed you will be able to use the Thule T2, # TH23JV, that you are interested in. You could also use the # TH92BJ, or any rack that fits a Class I, 1-1/4 inch hitch as long as you do not exceed the tongue weight capacity of the hitch (350 pounds, that includes the weight of the rack and bikes).
