Can QuickGrip or AcuTight Be Used to Replace U-bolt Mounting System

Can I use a QuickGrip or AcuTight mounting assembly to replace the existing U-bolt mounting system? What additional Thule hardware will I need in order to install the respective newer assemblies IF they do fit and can easily replace my existing mounting system WITHOUT having to make modifications? I have a Thule Sidekick mounted on my 2013 Mini Cooper S factory Thule crossbars. Im looking for an alternative quick release system and Ive narrowed my interest in the 2 systems mentioned above. I commute with my car to work during the week and I only install my cargo box when I am out cycling on the weekends in order to carry my belongings. My Mini doesnt have too roomy a trunk. I spoke with my contact at Thule and she told me that the Quick Grip Mounting System # TH05738 and the AcuTight Mounting Assembly # TH7521484001 are not interchangeable and cannot be used in place of the U Bolts that come with the Thule Sidekick Cargo Box TH682.
If you would like replacement U-Bolts for the Thule Sidekick you will want part # TH02943.
