5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Kit for a 2012 Ram 1500 Quad Cab Outdoorsman

Published 12/31/2014

Question:

I see the Semi Custom Kit #RP30035-386 is the recommendation, however as I would really like to install this myself, I will pay someone to install it if if I feel I must I Do Not want to be Drilling through Frame Flanges any where!! If it must be done that way, I dont even want to be in the area when that is done. What I am hoping for is a Custom Installation Kit that will bolt in with no Purposeful Damage to the Truck, and an optimum out come that insures a Safe Hitch-up when its in, with out the Rust/Rot to Frame Rails. Does such an Installation Kit Exist? Thank You

If your 2012 Ram 1500 has the 5-1/2 foot bed the only option is going to be the semi-custom kit your referenced # RP30035-386 and there will be some frame drilling required for installation. Even for a professional installation can take 5 to 8 hours total.

If your truck has a 6 or 8 foot bed then you can use custom kit # RP50142-58. There is no frame drilling needed for this kit. Installation time is estimated at 4 hours. I have included links to the instructions for both of these installation kits for you to view.

Please note that drilling through the truck bed is required because the rails that the hitch fits in need to be bolted to the brackets attached to the truck frame. Both kits are compatible with Pro Series, Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley, and Husky hitches that fit in industry standard above the bed rails.
