Hi everybody. My name is Andy with etrailer.com and today we're taking a look at Coghlan's survival kit in a can. Now in the wilderness, in an emergency situation, this can is going to provide you the essential tools and items that you are going to need to help you stay warm, to build a shelter and even signal for help. Now, this can is very compact, as you can see, and everything is going to fit in this can 33 items to help you survive in the wilderness until help arrives and being that it's sealed in this can, it's going to be water tight, and it's going to be able to fit in your pocket or just fit in your backpack, and it's so small. It's not going to be any trouble at all to pack. And to have it on hand.

Speaking of the size, let me give you some measurements here. The overall height of the can is sitting right at a little over four inches, about four and a quarter inches tall, and then going across, we are sitting right at three inches and then the depth of the can we're right at an inch. So again, this is factory sealed. This can has never been opened, and because it's factory sealed, it is gonna be water tight, but it is also going to be assured of the usability and the completeness of the list of the contents in here. So we're gonna go ahead and take a look at what's in this can together.

I am going to open it here for the first time and it reminds me kind of, of a can of sardines. So we're just gonna open it like that, so it has this pull tab here. I'm just gonna pull this open, and then pull the lid back. All right, well, let me just pull this off. So I don't accidentally cut myself on the edge and let's see what we have inside of here.

So, immediately right on top, we're going to have a piece of duct tape and that's gonna be about 12 inches long piece of duct tape. We'll lay it out aside here and kind of work our way through. And then we are going to have a reusable, a resealable bag here available for putting any contents in that you need, and so that's an item here, that's gonna be in this can. And then we are going to have a book of matches to help you start a fire. And then we're going to have some reflective cord here, and that's gonna be three feet of reflective cord, that's gonna be in this can.

And then we have a signal whistle again, to provide you another way of signaling for help. And when we give it a test here, so there's no pea in it or anything like that. So I think it's gonna be a usable enough though, and loud enough, in case you aren't to use that for signaling. And then we have a tub candle here, or a tea light, again, as a source of light, or if you need it to, I just keep a flame burning for warmth or for cooking. That's going to be in the can as well. And then we're gonna have two pieces of fire starter. So we have that there, and then we're going to have four matches and these matches are waterproof. And let me just kind of show you what we look, what we're looking like inside so far with what we have left, and then we're going to have this spool here of thread, it's going to be available. I believe this is the 101 foot fishing line. That's gonna be on this little spool here. So that's another item that's going to be in this can. And then here, we're going to have, kind of untangle it here a little bit, some cord, and this is gonna be about a 9 and 13/16 feet of multi-use cord that we have here, so nylon. So that's gonna be part of the kit. And then we have this wire here and it's taped up to keep it from coming apart. This is gonna be three feet of wire to use, it's brass, brass in color. Then we have a little compass here to help you get your bearings. And then we're gonna have two different sizes of safety pins. So again, that's part of the kit. And then, we have our pencil and speaking of pencil, we have some paper here and that works. So we have our pencil and paper. And then we're you going to have a razor blade here, and again, it's protected from cardboard here. So you're not accidentally going to cut yourself. Then you're gonna have two nails here, And then this is going to be a, serve a look here, a multi-tool, yeah, a multi purpose pocket tool. See if I can show this to you. And this is going to be a can opener, a knife edge, a screwdriver, a ruler, a bottle opener, got a four position wrench, a butterfly wrench, a saw blade, a sundial, two position ranch, and a lanyard hole. So that is going to be there as well, So you're going to get a lot of functionality here from this multipurpose survival tool. And again, this gives you the layout of how to use it, and it's gonna come in this nice sleeve. Then you get some twist ties, and you're gonna to get a outdoor, an outdoor survival tips booklet to kind of give you some pointers. Let me just open this up here real quick. It's gonna give you some pointers on how to survive, how to make fire, how to use some items that are going to be in this kit. Then it does have a reflective surface here to use as a signaling mirror. And then you've got two fishing hooks that, you'll be able to use with the included line and then last but not least is going to be our sewing needle. And then course you have the inside of the can that you can use as a cup. You can use it as a cooking container, even a bailor to get water out. But yeah, that looks like that covers everything that comes included. It's hard to believe that all of this fit into this little can. Now, I think this is a really interesting way to carry a survival kit. A lot of what we find in here are gonna, it's gonna be essential in helping, helping us survive in the wilderness and to help comes. The only downfall I see from something like this is the lack of reusing this to store everything back in here. Because once you pull the lid off, you don't have the ability to seal this back up. Obviously you can throw all this, all these items back in a resealable bag, and that's fine, but I would prefer something a little more reusable in the way of keeping all of my items together. So again we do have a lot of other survival kit options on our website. If this is something that you don't think would work for you, I would encourage you to look at Coghlan's survival kit.
