When you need to keep tools, gear, or groceries safe from both bad weather and prying eyes, the RetraxPRO MX delivers. The cover is built from heavy-duty, 1-inch-thick aluminum slats that resist dents, impacts, and harsh conditions. A pop-up locking handle lets you open, close, and secure the cover at any point along the rails. You can lock it partially open for long cargo or fully close it for total protection when the tailgate is locked. The handle sits flush and hidden under a lid, keeping the lock protected from dirt and moisture.

Some covers make it awkward to haul large items, but this one rolls out of the way fast. The aluminum slats glide smoothly on sealed ball-bearing rollers, so you can slide it open or closed with one hand—no pull straps or snaps. The spiral track system keeps the panels from rubbing together as they retract into the canister, cutting down on wear. When rolled up, the angled canister bottom leaves more cargo space and sits just 13-1/2" deep by 12" tall.

Rain, snow, and dust don’t stand a chance against the RetraxPRO MX. Foam and rubber seals line the rails and bulkhead to block water and debris, while the cover overlaps the tailgate to keep the bed dry. Two included drain tubes route any water inside the canister through the bed’s factory drain holes, keeping the stored cover from staying damp. The result is a cleaner, drier bed even through storms or car washes.

The matte black finish on the aluminum slats resists scratches and fading, keeping a sleek, low-profile look that sits about 1" above the bed rails. The design keeps lines smooth without bulky hinges, giving your truck a tidy, streamlined profile. It’s strong enough to support up to 500 lbs of evenly distributed weight when closed, so snow or gear won’t cause sagging.

Getting this cover on your truck doesn’t require drilling or complicated tools. The side rails clamp directly onto the bed rails, and the canister—with the cover already pre-installed—attaches using included hardware. Once in place, you just connect the drain tubes and you’re ready to go. The straightforward setup leaves you with a secure, smooth-operating cover built for everyday use.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover in matte black. You can upgrade your old tonneau cover and not have to worry about any snapping or hook and loop connections. The RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover is the best way to cover up your truck bed. One of it's great features is, it can be locked anywhere along the rails you please. It's perfect for keeping your gear dry, covering up that fifth wheel head and you can even use it to secure your elongated cargo. The latch itself doubles as a handle. When you're ready to lock it, it sits flush within the cover and you can lock it up with the included keys.
When you've done that you can put the cover over top. The whole thing rolls up into the flush mounted box for a low profile design. It only takes up about 12 inches of space behind your cab. It's a simple clamp on installation and the rails only sit about an 1-1/4" high on top of our truck bed rails. Here on the inside they take up about 1-3/4". The sealed ball bearing rollers within the cover make opening and closing easy.
And because they're sealed, they're maintenance free. The whole thing is made out of an industrial strength aluminum, it's gonna keep out the elements and it can support distributed loads of up to 500 pounds. When used with the locking tailgate, it's furthers your security. The whole thing is UV protected and it features a limited lifetime warranty. It's an easy no drill installation, it simply attaches to your truck bed rails with the provided clamps. And that's going to complete our look at the RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover.

After about a year owning this cover, I still would buy it again. If you set it up right in the first place, it will work flawlessly. The locking mechanism still works great. The rolling part still works great. Aside from a solid cover, this is the most secure cover I have ever had. It does get some drips of water inside after washing the truck but its not enough to worry about, even if you had a bed full of stuff.

So on the plus side, love how it opens all the way up. When were loading the bed for travel, I need it fully open. Downside is the amount of room the canister takes up and the water as previously mentioned. Still quite easy to use!

Install looks great Jesse! We couldn’t agree more about the instructions. Honestly, unclear instructions are exactly why we started making our own install videos many moons ago, because seeing it done can make all the difference. It’s good to hear the cover feels solid and slides smoothly once installed. Your notes on water sealing and debris are fair, especially with RamBox-equipped beds and tailgate fitment. We appreciate you sharing your experience, and we hope it continues to serve you well over time.
