Video Transcript for The Low-Down on the K-Source Replacement Side Mirror-KS68649N

Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a quick look at the K-Source replacement side view mirror. This is going to replace the passenger side view mirror on your 2009 through 2014 Nissan Maxima. This is modeled after the manufacturer's original look and fit, so you're really not going to be able to tell that this is a replacement side view mirror. It's going to look like it came with your Maxima right from the factory.

It does have a lot of the same capabilities as the original. You've got your power remote capability so you can adjust the mirror face position with the factory power controls inside your vehicle. You do have the amber light on the back of the mirror here that's going to illuminate and flash when you have your turn signal activated.It does not have the memory function, so if your original mirror was capable of adjusting based on the driver of the vehicle, this one will not have that functionality to it, and keep in mind both the power remote adjustability and the amber light will only work if your vehicle already had those capabilities. It will not add those capabilities to a vehicle that did not have it. But if your original mirror could do it, this mirror will do it as well, just like your original.This does have the OE grade quality lens to it.

It's got a reflective chrome plating on the front of the glass, so it's going to give you a nice, clear image. It is a convex lens like most of your passenger side mirrors to give you a wider angle view to help reduce those blind spots. Just like your original has the breakaway design, so if you we're to bump into a post or the side of your garage, something like that, the mirror is going to fold in on itself to try and help absorb some of that shock and impact to minimize the damage done to the mirror itself.It does have a durable plastic housing with a black finish on it. The backside here, you may have noticed, is loose. This comes disassembled so that if you wanted to paint this to match your vehicle color, it's much easier to do with this piece removed so that you don't have to worry about getting any over-spray on the rest of it.

And then once you're done, you can simply just click it into place. Very easy to do, but once you get it in place, it is very difficult to remove it again. So that's why I am not doing that for demonstration purposes. I'm just going to leave it loose for now.As far as the installation, it's going to be extremely simple. It's the same footprint as your original mirror.

So basically all you have to do is take the old mirror off, put this one in its place, get the plug plugged into the same wiring that the original was plugged into, and you're ready to go. You're not going to have to do any drilling or screwing or taping or gluing, anything like that. It's all going to be very simple, just get it all plugged in.So for those of you who do need a little bit more reassurance that this is going to be the mirror that you need, it is an exact replacement part for the part number that I'm about to put on the screen here for you. There you go. So if you see that number on your original mirror or in your owner's manual, you can trust that this is the replacement part that you need, and this is just the passenger side mirror.
