Video Transcript for WeatherTech Front Side Window Rain Guards Installation - 2015 Toyota Tacoma

Hi, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the WeatherGuard wind guards or rain deflectors, and we'll take a look at how they fit this 2015 Toyota Tacoma. Rain guards and wind deflectors are great for if you want a little extra ventilation. On a hot day like this, I would like to be able to have some airflow without fully closing my windows. So for safety, I can keep my windows up here, but I'll still have air coming through underneath the rain guards. Also good if you're camping, you're parked, it's raining. You can keep your windows down, and the rain is just deflected off to the side.

Here at etrailer, it is a custom-fit item for your vehicle. So I recommend putting your year make model, in our case it's 2015 Toyota Tacoma, and then we could find the correct rain guards for you. This is available as a set for the front, which is what we have, or a full set for the front and the rear. So this is made of a three-millimeter thick acrylic construction. That makes it strong and durable.

But also with how it has that dark tinting, it's very low profile and not as obvious on your car. So I would actually consider this for my own vehicle. It doesn't add much to the looks, meaning it's not bulky, it's not an eyesore. It's actually very sleek and blends into your vehicle. And then the extra benefits it provides is awesome for the extra ventilation and for where the rain doesn't go into your vehicle even with your windows down.

So once you found the correct rain guards for you and you decide that, yes, that is something that you might be interested in because of how it may increase ventilation, makes it easier for you when you're parked or when you're traveling. Let's take a look at how to install this on your Tacoma. So we're going to install these rain guards, and we do have a set for the front driver's and passengers' which is really easy. So with our windows lowered halfway, we're going to remove the sticker on the end of our guard, and we're going to fit it into that opening there. So make sure that's in that corner before we go to the upper corner.

We are going to have to put a little bit of bend on that guard. So this fits into that corner. Notice how this is still up and out. And this is where we're gonna be careful, and we're gonna slowly fit the rest of the guard into the center part of your window sill. Pull down and tuck. And little by little, we'll go all the way to the end. And notice how it sits flush against that liner. Now, we're going to test this out by raising and lowering our windows about five times. If you have windows that have automatic sensors where it feels the obstruction and it automatically lowers, this is a good time to test them out. We don't have that function on this truck right now, so we're just gonna keep in the up position and bring it back down. If you'd noticed that everything seems to look good, you don't notice any like obvious cracking or breaking even after a couple times it's raising and lowering, then you should be good. You're also going to leave your windows close for about 12 hours for the deflectors to fully acclimate. Now, if you're at temperatures below 60 degrees Fahrenheit, it may take a little bit longer. For warmer temperatures, it may be faster. So wait that 12 hours and then you're ready to ride. And that right there was a look at our WeatherGuard rain guards and how they fit our 2015 Toyota Tacoma.

Cracking the window with these, it significantly cuts down on the highway wind noise compared to not having them at all. No gaps or cut corners after install. So I love that they look almost factory installed! Really looking forward to a more comfortable ride! Whether the A/C gets too cold in the summer, or the heat gets too warm in the winter, this will really help ventilate the cab in all types of weather.

Great company! I ordered these for my truck and ended up getting the wrong size. The staff worked with me to exchange for the proper size and it couldn't have gone better. Customer service is what they do best!

I have purchased many products through etrailer and both the products and customer service cant be beat. I have had a couple of issues but most of the time its on my end and they always go the extra mile to get things right for me. I highly recommend them if youre looking for quality and great service.

First bad experience with a WeatherTech product. Do not recommend for 2010-2014 Ford Expedition or similar models. I see 4 flaws.

3 of 4 pieces cracked at the corner even when I tried to be as gentle as possible in incrementally raising windows once installed. It seems to be just a few millimeters too oversized.

Second, Rear windows will not raise all the way back in place due to thickness of plastic, it stops. You have to push windshield up while holding the switch.
I was worried that this force would damage the window tint due to excess friction and it may push the rubber out to the point it would be damaged if I took them off months or years later.

Third, and arguably the most important. Too much wind noise. The Ford Expedition is very quiet for an SUV. I tried these for close to a week and I had to take them off. It sounded like gusty wind noise even when there was no wind other then the vehicle going through the air. I removed them and the SUV was quiet again.

Four, It isn't optically correct. Hard to see in the photo, but when looking at the area between the A pillar and side mirror, it's wavy and distracting. Also makes the A pillar appear much larger when it's darker outside due to the tint.

So even though they look nice, and you can crack your windows in the rain if your car is sitting still or you never exceed 50 mph... I wasn't able to get comfortable with the above issues. I can't return them since I installed them and tried them. But hopefully someone else can benefit from this.

It’s still early. I did the upgrade while in a walking boot (cannot drive) due to an Achilles rupture. So I can only comment on the install, which was much easier on the back windows. The front windows were a little awkward but eventually went in. I don’t like the ‘clunk’ as the window closes in the last inch or so. The window comes in contact with the deflector and clunks. I hope the plastic heats / cools and reforms as it sits over the next few days. Otherwise I like the look and finish, it’s just the fit which I’m not completely convinced off yet.

These weather tech side window rain guards are really well made. Front ones installed easily and allow us to crack open the windows even in the rain. I could not for the life of me install the rear ones, or I would have given them 5 stars.

by:

The front rain guards fit my 2023 Passport perfectly. The rears weren't setting correctly in the window seal and neither rear window would roll up completely. Also, when I remove the two rear rain guards, I noticed the thinnest part, which is supposed to go between the window seal and the glass had broken in use. I have no patience for this, so I threw the rears in the trash. In retrospect, I'd have have rated these a 5 if I'd only purchased the fronts.

by:

I put these window deflectors on my 2018 Chevrolet Cruze LT. I love the look it gives on my car, and the option it gives me when it is raining to roll down my window. I would give this a 5-star rating and 100% recommendation

by:

I didn't know how much I would love these rain guards until I finally bought and installed them. Install is easy. etrailer shipping quickly. It's been a year and they have held up to the sun and rain, and look brand new still. They work GREAT. Highly recommend!

by:

Very satisfied and pleased with my purchase experience from etrailer and the weather-tech side door window guards.
Glad I finally converted to weather tech. Installation was simple and no need of vht tapes.
Fitment is perfect, real clean low profile look , as if they belong there.
Highly recommend etrailer and the quality products they offer and professional experience . Top notch customer communication!
Looking forward to working with them for future purchases..

by:

They wouldn’t stay on the front windows with the window rolled down, the drivers side blew off, so I removed the passenger side. The rears are snug 2018 lexus gx 460.

by:

Love these, much better than the ones that stick to the outside of the door frame. They tuck in nice and sleek, are great for keeping the rain out. Put them on all my cars now.

by:

Love the rain guards.

by:

What else would you expect from weathertech??? Proven quality!!

by:

Looks good and easy to install, just watch the installation videos.

by:

Easy to install, though took a little gentle extra effort to "encourage" them into the window frames. It causes just a little wind noise, but that is expected, as it impedes the aerodynamics of the car.

by:

Easy installation, arrived fast and great price!

by:

paid the little extra to go with these well made and excellent fitting window vents as other "stick ons" just dont last. I bought from etrailer as they track shipping and assure delivery.

very pleased!

highly recommend WeathTech & etrailer

Don't look to close. I think that products coming from a company that prides itself on custom fit, the fit would be better. The reveal along the top is very uneven. Instructions say to roll window up very slowly, right, power windows. First time up, crack, :( . Luckily the cracked piece is small and hidden.

by:

Good fit after a finnicky installation. The front guards do not use an adhesive to install, just pressure, so time will tell how they hold up, but initial impressions are good.

by:

My package arrived in ok condition! Way to much much room to be shaken and be destroyed. Luckily mine arrived ok. Some of the original packaging was dented and deformed do to over sized box! I got lucky!

by:

Unfortunately the rain Guards don't work properly on my vehicle, the minute they sense the rain Guards the window retracts in the open position, and I can't close my windows.
I will be looking to return these if I can't fix the issue ,or if possible return for a rain guard that has a self adhesive that sticks on the outside of the window trim.
Thanks S

by:

Living in Florida I can tell you I really crack my windows.
I get my car washed 2 to 3 times a month and I have not had any problems with them. I am very happy I invested in them.
