Video Transcript for Review of Detail K2 Snow Plow - Custom Mounting Brackets Snowplow - K283012

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this custom mounting bracket kit for your Detail K2 snowplows. Now this is, as I mentioned, custom fitted, so you do wanna go through our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer, just input the year, make and model of your vehicle and answer any other questions that it might have for you, and our fit guide will confirm if this kit will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. So this is designed specifically for your vehicle, meaning it's gonna bolt directly to those existing attachment points. No guesswork, no major modifications because it's vehicle specific, the fit is going to be clean and secure right from the start. And I'm gonna give you an overhead view here.

This is built strong to give you reliable support for your K2, your Detail K2, Rampage II, Storm II and Summit II snowplows, and, on your screen, I've got those listed there for you. These heavy duty steel brackets give you solid attachment points so when the plow is mounted, it's going to stay firmly in place and perform the way that it should. One of the nice things about this setup is how clean it's going to look. The brackets are designed to mount close to your vehicle, so nothing's going to stick out past the bumper. You don't end up with bulky hardware hanging off the front when the plow isn't attached.

Durability is going to be another big plus. The brackets are made from reinforced steel. And this does have a black powder coat finish on it, as you can see, but I have noticed just in my limited time with it that that powder coat will flake off pretty easily, so that's not going to affect the use of these brackets, but I say that 'cause maybe you wanna hit it with some black rustproof spray paint after you install this and maybe just keep an eye on it as well to make sure that that finish is maintained. So I just wanted you to be aware of that. Now, installation's gonna be straightforward as well.

Again, this is a bolt-on design, so you're gonna be able to attach or remove your snowplow relatively quickly when you need it. It is designed with good ground clearance in mind, which is gonna help prevent scraping curbs or hitting obstacles. In the box, you're gonna get the driver's side bracket, the passenger side bracket, and all the necessary hardware, along with instructions to guide you through that installation process. So this system uses the two point bracket design that's gonna fit snugly to your vehicle without, again, protruding past the bumper, keeping everything tight, secure and out of the way. If you happen to have any other questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

We do wanna make sure that you're getting exactly what you need. And one other thing I wanna mention, if you need help with installation, take a look at this product page underneath the photo section, we have a link that will take you to our local installer locator, and if you hit that link and answer the questions that it has for you, that locator will find an installer local to your area that etrailer has partnered with to help you with the install. Well, again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

Brackets work fine for old model YJ Jeep. Frame bolts need to be longer to bolt bracket to Jeep.

I've had this plow for over a year and still haven't had the opportunity to use it yet ( No Snow ) , assembly was easy enough for one person, like the wheels on the blade had to drill out the holes a little to get the pins to go in , and the stand in the back had to be cut off to keep it from hitting the back of the bumper and not going all the way down. Other than a few minor modifications seems well built.

It is nice having a plow for our driveway! I was able to hook it up to my Tundra myself, but be aware it needs a custom mount kit for whatever your vehicle. I can hook it up in about 20 minutes. It would be easier if I had room to store the plow in the garage and had a flat surface. My Detail K2 is simple but functional and worked great for one winter in Fairbanks, Alaska, and I'm about to uncover it for another season.

by:

Well let's just say the plow bent on the ends and on the skid plate. Connectors for wireless power stopped working the last month. I think if you live in town and have 30ft drive way this be ok for you any longer upgrade to better plow.

Awesome product

I love my Detail K2 Summit II
plow.
I have it on a 2000 Jeep Wrangler and it handles it very well. Mounting brackets are very easy to install.

by:

These brackets were a pretty rough install on my 1998 Grand Cherokee. Before you crawl under your Jeep make sure you take these to the grinder and knock some of the powder coat off of the pins that go into the frame rails, otherwise no amount of hammering will get them in there. Other than that, they seem to be holding up pretty well and I am plowing on an uneven dirt driveway. The whole plow system has taken a decent amount of abuse so far.

In mid-January, I received the plow kit about a week after the biggest snowfall of the year, a lot of which is still on the ground a month later. So it was not for another two weeks that a dusting came in where I could try it out. Worked okay, but not enough snow to really tell. So a couple of weeks later, mid-February, we were to get another "dusting" so I did not bother to hook up the plow. Next morning there was about 4" on the ground and more coming in sideways. After shoveling a small area to move the plow into place I was able to hook it up in a couple of minutes. I share a driveway with my neighbor so it is about three cars wide and the top of it is street level the bottom is at basement floor level with a 40 degree hill separating the two. I have the blade mounted on a 1994 Grand Cherokee sitting on Wrangler Radials. In four swipes I had 90% of it done and off to the sides. The rest was minor cleanup with a shovel. Then I took it to my office where I have a parking lot about 60 feet by 150 feet. After that big snow storm noted earlier I used a snow blower for about an hour to get maybe 1/3 of it cleared. The Jeep and plow blade had that sucker cleared down to the pavement in about 10 minutes. Should have had one of these years ago.

We purchased the DK2 Rampage II snowplow in Nov.2015, and started using it in Oct. 2016. Now it's been a little over a year, and the snow plow stopped working. After careful inspection, we found out the winch installed in the plow is an used+defective one (inside screws and rubber washer are not in place). It would be great if all parts are new and without defect.
What's worse, we tried to call the 1-800 on the instruction manual for ordering a replacement part, but never got any human being to answer the phone after trying for a week. Finally we found the phone # of the seller - etrailer from my old email folder.
It would be more convenient if you could have placed your phone # on the manual so that customers can easily contact you in case of any problem.
Thank you for listening.

The plow is still working good going into the second season. The blade itself is rusting quite a bit from all the salt on the roads etc., so probably going to have to apply a rust inhibitor spray paint to it.Also on my truck (Toyota Tacoma) the blade sits low enough that the snow sprays over the top of the blade and onto the windshield. I go through quite a bit of de-icer to see where I am plowing. Also would recommend getting some mounted lights above the blade. It is not too bad when I am plowing, but when I am driving at night with the plow blade up, I have to lower it far enough so that I can get a least 1/3 of the headlights to project over the blade to see. If you lower it too much and end up hitting a pothole doing 50 mph that could be a problem. All in all a great plow for the price, just make sure to get some add-ons to make it easier to use.

Works great plows like a 1ton with a 6 k plow on it. Fast shipping easy assembly. Couldn't be happier

by:

I received the plow and mounting parts about a week after ordering them, which I thought was real good service. I had a U-haul dealer in town put who did a great job. They put Everything together and installed it on my truck. It did cost more because some of the mounting parts need to be altered. Once all together the plow worked very well, needed to change the battery on the wireless controller, not a big deal.
Waiting for snow to give it the big test.

by:

I put these on a 1994 Jeep YJ. The brackets are well made and easy to install, saving me the labor costs

by:

The 5 star review is for etrailer and their staff. The plow and brackets I absolutely needed to be delivered by mid-December were delayed by etrailer's vender (due to no fault of etrailer) until after January 2025. Etrailer's customer service was very responsive and refunded the purchase price.

At this time, I cannot speak to the quality of the plow and mounting brackets. However, after I recover from my January shoulder surgery (approx 6 months) I am planning on ordering this plow and mounting brackets during the summer or early fall so that I can have it fully assembled and ready to go next winter.

by:

Bought a K2 snowplow last winter and just love in, was easy assembly and taking on and off is a snap. One man job

Thank you so much etrailer you saved me .

As a home owner plow it works great, but the nylon strap situation could be better. A replacement strap doesn’t have to be so expensive or unavailable during the season. My suggestion is to buy a couple spares . Other than that a very good little plow .

by:

Absolutely love this plow. I’ve ran other plows v plows, straight blade plows, and this one definitely compares to them. The only good part and the reason I bought this plow is you don’t have to worry about hydraulic lines or pumps or rams going bad whil your plowing. And ya the winch could go bad while plowing or in general but it’s a lot cheaper to replace a winch than a pump or ram.

Love this product amazing craftsmanship.

by:

Had to purchase longer bolts for the bottom frame securing point. There is a 1/4 inch gap between the truck frame and the brackets. Time will tell if this becomes a problem.

by:

The plow arrived in a large but manageable package. All parts were there and assembly was pretty easy, with great instructions. The plow and mount fit my Jeep perfectly. The plow came with both wired and wireless controls. I have only used the wireless and it has worked flawlessly both last winter and this winter. Cleaning my driveway is no longer a chore and kind of a pleasure, sitting in my heated cab with stereo. Mounting and dismounting the plow is quick and easy, especially with the folding caster wheels that come on the plow. It is easy to maneuver around by myself. I should have bought this a long time ago.

by:

I installed the DK plow mounts on my 2010 F150. The bolts went right into the 2 holes on the frame (perfect fit). I did not need to remove the front bumper, air dam, or the pull hooks to install the mounts, but I did very lightly trim the 2 air dams in order to make the mounts fit. I do not have the crossbar. I have ordered an extended crossbar. Hopefully it will attach and I will be able to hook the plow up.

by:

The plow was delivered very quickly! I find that it is of the highest quality. I negatively l neglected to take into consideration that my truck has a 6" lift so I will have to modify the plow in order to use it with my truck.

by:

The mounting bracket for our company's 2011 GMC Sierra is very solid and sturdy. We had some issues with fit & clearance initially that had to do with the bumper and plastic facia for the grill opening, but once we figured that out, the mounting bracket bolted to the truck frame very solidly and has held up well with the snow plow equipment mounted.
