When a weak hookup can't handle appliance startup, this unit adds battery support through PowerAssist to keep things running. Built for 24V systems with low idle draw, it keeps essentials powered without draining the battery bank.
When a microwave or coffee maker would normally trip a weak shore hookup or small generator, this unit steps in with PowerAssist and PowerControl instead of forcing you to shut loads off. It combines inverter power, adaptive charging, and a high-speed AC transfer switch in one enclosure, with continuous output power at 77ºF rated at 1,600 watts (2,000 volt-amps) and peak power at 4,000 watts. In real use, that gives you a better shot at running demanding loads on constrained power without constant breaker trips.
Brief power interruptions can reset a residential fridge, drop a CPAP, or kick electronics offline at the worst time. The built-in UPS function switches to inverter operation in under 20 milliseconds, so the handoff happens fast enough to keep sensitive loads running. Instead of a noticeable power drop and restart cycle, connected essentials stay on through unstable hookups and short outages.
A lot of inverter upgrades hit a dead end when the system grows, but this one doesn't stop at a single-box setup. It supports parallel, split-phase, and 3-phase operation with up to 6 units, and it's built for 24V battery systems with 94 percent maximum efficiency and 11 watts of zero load power. That gives you a platform you can build around now and still expand later instead of replacing the whole core of the system.
Separate charging gear adds wiring and eats up space, especially when you're already working around a tighter power bay. This unit uses 4-stage adaptive battery charging with 50 amps of charge current for the house battery and a dedicated 1 amp trickle charge for the starter battery. Once it's installed, both battery banks can stay maintained from the same inverter charger instead of relying on extra hardware.
Standby draw adds up fast when the inverter sits on for days at a time and loads come and go. Search mode reduces inverter power consumption by approximately 70 percent during low or no load conditions, and the unit is rated at 11 watts zero load power. In practice, that cuts wasted battery draw during lighter use periods, so you don't burn through stored power just keeping the inverter awake.

Hi everyone, Steve here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Victron Multiplus Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger. Now this is gonna give you 1,600 continuous watts. It is an inverter charger. It also does 2,000 volt amps, and it's gonna give you that 1,600 continuous watts of clean 120-volt AC power from a 24 volt-battery bank, making it safe for sensitive electronics, appliances, tools, and modern electric equipment. So if you're building a serious off-grid power system, you're gonna need more than just an inverter.
You're gonna need a system like this that gives you intelligent, managed charging, shore power, and battery power all at once. So I took liberty of pre-loosening these two set screws here in the front so we can take off this front panel so we can see a little bit better inside. And obviously we can pop off these gray little inserts as much as we need to to fit the wire through there and give us still a clean flush install. This would be mounted on a wall straight up and down. They do give you the bracket for that.
I do like to start off with some dimensions. So this is nine and 5/16 inches wide. Technically, again, this would be standing up, so it's 19 and 15/16 inches tall, and it's about five and 5/16 inches deep whenever it's hanging on the wall. Now like I mentioned before, this unit combines pure sine wave inverter and a high performance battery charger into one compact system, and that's gonna simplify your entire electrical setup. So because it outputs that true pure sine wave, those sensitive devices, electronics are gonna get utility grade power instead of those rough, modified sine wave power that those cheaper different brands out there offer.
So we all know those electronics are sensitive, like TVs, laptops, et cetera. You don't want those wavy lines going through the TV or the laptop screen. That's what this is gonna do. It's gonna be that pure sine wave power. So another thing is when shore power or generator power becomes available, this will automatically switch over and begin charging your batteries using its built-in smart charger.
So how cool is that, right And one of the standout features I like is called power assist technology. And if your shore power or your generator can't quite handle a sudden heavy load, so I turned on an air conditioner or a microwave or something like that at the same time, this can temporarily help supplement power from your battery bank to help prevent overloads or breakers that would trip and stuff normally. So it becomes incredibly useful when you're in campgrounds. We all know they're not giving you fuel power anyways and those kind of things or if you have a small generator. So this also features Victron's advanced communication and monitoring system, and that's gonna allow you to integrate this with Bluetooth monitoring sold separately, remote system management, solar systems, and larger Victron energy networks. Again, sold separately, but basically that just means this can talk to all those systems via Victron. So check all those out separately if you don't already have them. And again, once this is installed, it's gonna quietly manage and do everything in the background. So that's gonna save you time, energy, and noise as well. Well folks, that's gonna wrap up our quick look together at the Victron Multiplus Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
