Hi there, truck owners. Today we're going to be taking a look at Westin's line of Thrasher Running Boards. These running boards are custom designed to fit your truck and no matter which truck you have the set that's custom fit for it will go the entire length of your cab. To ensure that you get the correct step for your truck, you'll want to use our fit guide. In addition to the year, make and model, you'll also want to make sure you know the specifics such as the cab size on your truck, to ensure that you get the correct one.And you can see here compared to your tube steps, this is going to be a much more aggressive look and having recently installed it, I can tell you based on the weight and feel that these are much more heavy duty than your regular tube steps, you almost need an extra set of hands to help lift these up here. One person can't do it by themselves, but I was generally impressed with how strong and sturdy they feel.I also liked that they have a six and a half inch diameter because if you're a larger person like me and you've got a little bit bigger feet, those little three inch tube steps, they're a little bit cumbersome.

You go to step on them, it's right in the middle of your foot. You kind of want to slide off. This gives you plenty of surface area to step onto and it just feels solid, there's no give. The truck gives more than the step.And you can see it's a wet and snowy day. I have no problem getting traction on these steps due to the raised sections.

It kind of digs into the rubber in your shoe and really plants you solid on top of it. And this not only gives you traction, but any dirt and debris that gets on your step when you're going to get in and out of it, it's going to fall off your shoe and a lot of that's just going to fall down here through the cracks, leaving it behind or wherever you left, not bringing it along with you.The step itself is going to be constructed of solid steel which gives it that extra weight and durability that it has. And it's protected with a matte powder coat finish, which I prefer that it is matte over a gloss finish because a lot of the plastic trims, like your mudflaps and around your mirrors are also a matte black and it just helps it blend in. It looks like it's supposed to be there from the factory.The brackets are also going to be steel with the matte powder coat finish to protect them as well and that all adds up to a carrying capacity of 350 pounds. So it shouldn't have any problem with whoever's going to be getting into it.

Each of our brackets has a bracket cover over it which just helps give it a more aggressive look, displaying the Westin name and making it look like a much larger bracket.The bracket though is very strong and very long and thick, which provides plenty of support behind the cover. And compared to tube steps, I like that this one has solid metal all the way across the top. Because over time if you have grip tape on it, that grip tape is eventually going to wear smooth or the tape is going to peel off.A lot of your tube steps have a plastic step pad which over time is going to get beaten down by the sun and the weather and it's going to crack and fall off of there. And then some have a rubber step pad which they fall into the same category with your plastics, eventually they're going to crack and wear down. With this, we don't ever really have to worry about it.

The black powder coat finish is going to keep it protected against rust and corrosion and the grip from the raised sections here, is going to be there for the life of the entire step and you'll never need zip ties to hold your step pads on again.In addition to making it easier to get in and out of the vehicle, it also makes it easier to access roof mounted items, if you've got a roof rack up here. And since the step extends all the way to the back, we can use it to help us get into the truck bed as well.
