Today on this 2011 Chevy Traverse, we will be installing the Westin oval tube steps using part number 22-5020-1795. The first step involved is to go ahead and lay out all of the parts and locate their positions underneath the vehicle. We also put the hardware with them as well. First off, we are working on the passenger side. And the brackets match up to the body work. One is closest to the outside edge and one goes over towards closer to the frame. So we will start off with our hardware. When we install our hardware going to the frame here, you will notice two pieces that look very similar. However, this one has a shoulder on it. This one will actually be used towards the front of the vehicle. And that is simply going to slide inside. The hardware we are going to use in this section is going to be this 3/8 bolt and then this bridge nut. We are just going to thread those two together and we are going to put that inside the vehicle body work as well. And also, this one fastener will get a plastic disc. Push that onto the threads as well. 1:00
Now we just go ahead and line up our bracket with the bolts and put it in place. And install our hardware which will be a flat washer, a lock washer and nut. And this will get the same thing as well a flat washer, lock washer and nut. And we will move on to the bracket going towards the front of the vehicle. The front mount is going to use these two existing holes in the frame. And again, we will put our two bolts inside and put our bracket in place. They will get the same flat washer, lock washer and nut. And again we are just going to tighten these up finger tight and that will be good enough. We will next go ahead and show you how the hardware installs on the tube step itself. Now we have it upside down. Take it and put it in like this and bring it back through the slot and that is the part that gets clamped down to the brace. 1:45
When you set your tube step into place, make sure you have the long pad going towards the front and then this little set screw right here for the end cap is pointing towards the inside. We will slip our hardware inside and then we will go ahead and line it up with our braces. Then we will go ahead and put a flat washer and the lock nut on the bottom side. We are just going to get everything started. Go back to the back brace and go ahead and install our hardware there. OK, with all of the hardware installed, we can go ahead and start snugging down all of the bolts. Keep an eye on it as you tighten it down and make sure everything stays in the position that you want. Alright, let us go ahead and snug down the hardware that goes to the tube step. OK, once you have everything snugged down, step back, take a look at it, and make sure that nothing has moved. And when you are happy with that, go ahead and tighten down the fasteners to the torque value that is specified in the instructions. Alright, our passenger side is finished. Now let us go ahead and repeat everything back over on the driver side. With those few easy steps we are already finished. And there you have it for part number 22-5020-1795 from Westin.
