How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Malone Cross Bed Ladder Rack System on our 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. Having a ladder rack system is gonna allow you to get those longer items like ladders, lumber, PVC pipe, or even things for your sports and rec activities like canoes or bike carriers or T-track accessories. Included with the cross sport are gonna be four load stops that you're gonna be able to make adjustments with using the black knob, they fit into your T-track, which is 7/8-inch wide. That's gonna work with all your T-track accessories, and you'll be able to use the rubber stripping to fill in the spaces to help reduce wind noise. As far as your towers, these guys are gonna have a padding system that's underneath that makes contact with the top of the bed and a clamp on the rear to secure it to the top of the vehicle. You're 3.5 inches as far as the width, and then the thickness is right at an inch and a half.
What you're adding overall to the height from the top of the bed to the top of your load stop is right at 11 inches. To the top of the bar, you're right at six inches. As far as the space that you would be able to load up to before you make contact with the bar, you are right under 27 inches, so you can still fit quite a bit of items inside of the bed of the truck. I have the spacing set right at 34, I'm sorry, 32 inches as far as the crossbar spread, which works for most rooftop accessories based on the fact that there are no fixed mounting points, you can make adjustments in or out for whatever accessory that you have. And just to get an idea as far as where we are, I'm about 19 inches from the back of the cab to the front of our front bar.
The way that your ladder rack system is secured is using these clamps that are down here at the bottom. They're actually fast than using the included Allen key. And once you get your measurements, the installation is pretty simple. So let me show you how to get it installed. Well, let's start our installation by getting our towers installed along the track.
There's a T-slot nut here that you're gonna use to align with your cross bed system. If it is screwed down a little bit, you can just use the included Allen key to get the clearance necessary. Now, you gonna align your towers with the T-track and just slide it across. We're gonna do this side, making sure the Malone is facing outward. Awright, and now, we're gonna use our tape measure to measure for the distance of our positioning.
And I'll just use the inside edge, the inside edge from the measurement I got of the bed. Now that we have our measurement, we're just gonna drop our crossbars in position, and we're going to attach our clamp. So you may have to disconnect the two parts with the bolts that holds 'em together. And you're gonna go underneath and then over and then just rethread the Allen bolt into the clamp. And now, I'm gonna fasten down the clamp using the included Allen key. One thing to keep in mind with the clamp position, you are working around the clips that hold your side cover for your bed on, so they may not be perfectly centered or aligned, you just wanna make sure they're facet down. Now, we're gonna install our load stop. We're just gonna slide that into our T-channel slot. And if you wanna adjust or lock in your position, you're just gonna tighten down the knob. I've already installed the nut and I centered it with a screwdriver, and we're just gonna slide it in and we're gonna guide our screw in to the hole and fasten it down. Also has the weather stripping that you're gonna use to fill in the gaps in your T-channel. You can cut it and trim it to size. Because this is just a demonstration, I did not install it, but you just basically push it down into the channel. This has been a look at the Malone Cross Bed Ladder Rack on our 2024 GMC Sierra 1500.
