Your old AC rattled itself apart. This rugged kit pairs a reinforced rooftop unit with components built to keep cooling after traveling washboard trails, dusty job sites, and backroads that test everything bolted down.
When you're replacing your unit or setting up a rig for remote work or rough travel, the last thing you want is to guess which parts will fit. This kit gives you everything you need: a rugged rooftop unit, a ducted air distribution box, and a digital thermostat, all designed to work together. The ADB even comes with detailed, illustrated instructions so you can get it installed right the first time.
This system moves air through your ceiling ducts to bring the temperature down quickly and keep it even throughout your RV. Whether you're parked on a dusty work site or tucked deep in the backcountry, it's built to keep delivering steady cooling. So, you walk in and the air feels dry, cool, and breathable, just the way it should.
Most rooftop ACs are designed for highways and campgrounds. Coleman-Mach's Roughneck units are different. They're braced and reinforced so they don't rattle apart when the road gets bad. A stabilizer ties the compressor and coil into a solid frame, the coil housing is steel instead of plastic, and a reinforced basepan keeps the whole unit from flexing. Add it all up and you get a unit that stays together through the vibration, bumps, and jolts that come with off-road travel.
The air distribution box gives you control right at ceiling level. Open the louvers for direct cooling into the cabin or close them to push air through your ducts. The slim, low-profile design gives you more overhead clearance, and the swing-open grille makes it easy to reach and wash the filter. No tools needed. Just pull, rinse, and snap it back into place.
When the temperature drops, this system can be upgraded with a 5,600 Btu heat strip (sold separately). It's a quick way to take the chill out of the air without firing up the furnace, making it handy for shoulder seasons and early mornings.

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Coleman Mach Roughneck, Mach 3, 13,500 BTU, ducted RV air conditioner system in textured black. Now, one of the biggest headaches in RV repairs is figuring out which parts actually go together and are compatible with each other. This kit is going to take all that off of your plate. This rooftop unit comes with an air distribution box and thermostat. All of these items are designed to work together, so installation's gonna be smoother, and nothing should catch you off guard.
So whether you are doing the install yourself or you're paying somebody to do it, having everything that comes together in a kit that's going to work together is gonna be a whole lot easier for you. It's gonna make the job faster, cleaner, and a whole lot less stressful. Now, this Roughneck series is specifically designed for harsher environments. So if you travel in areas with extreme heat or lots of dust or rugged terrain, this unit is designed to hold up against elements like that over the standard RV air conditioner unit. It has a sturdier build and reinforced components, so this is not going to get rattled apart as easily on those bumpy roads.
For instance, this has a internal brace plate assembly that's going to secure the condenser coil and compressor from high vibrations as well as a welded wire compressor clamp that's going to limit the motion of the compressor. This is made for RVs with ducted air. And with 13,500 BTUs of cooling power, this system is gonna move air through your existing ceiling ducts to give you enough cooling for smaller to mid-size RVs, think like 30 feet long and shorter. So inside the unit are large coils and airflow boosting fins that are gonna help pull that heat out more efficiently. So your RV's gonna stay cooler with less strain on the system.
So just giving you some rough measurements of the unit itself. We're sitting right at about 38 inches long. The overall width is gonna be about 27 inches wide. And this is a medium profile unit, so it's gonna be almost 14 inches tall. This is going to fit over your standard RV roof opening of 14 1/4 inches by 14 1/4 inches, and this weighs about 80 pounds.
Now, this does feature a streamlined medium profile shroud that's gonna help reduce drag. And this has a textured black finish and it's not just for aesthetics, but it's pretty practical as well. That texture's gonna help hide scratches and scuffs better than the smooth surfaces, and that black tends to look cleaner for longer in those outdoor environments. I wanted to point out that this shroud is not like rigid or overly hard. It kind of has some give to it, so I think it's gonna have some, it's gonna be better with impacts. I don't think that this is going to fracture or crack as easily as some of those harder plastic ones that you see on other manufacturers. But all in all, I think it's gonna do a good job of protecting those internal components from water, dirt, debris, things like that. Now, this air distribution box is going to give you direct or ducted air flow. So you could open up the the louvers here, so you can let cool air straight into the cabin or you could close them to make sure you're pushing that air through the existing duct work in your RV or camper. And then we do have these grills here on either side that can easily pop open. So you can remove those reusable, washable air filters. You can rinse them out, let them air dry, place the filters back in, and then you're gonna be able to keep your air clean and you're not gonna have to worry about buying new air filters every time. So this is a low-profile design. The slim shape is going to add minimal height. It's gonna give you more overhead clearance. Everything that you see here is included. You're going to get the control box, which is the brains of the operation. And then you're also going to get the hardware and extra wiring to get this installed into place. I wanted to point out that our overall measurements, looking at the length first, we're sitting right about 20 inches long, the width about 19 inches wide. And then, as I mentioned, this is low-profile, so this is gonna come down from your ceiling about an inch or an inch and a half if you look at the backside of this. And so you're also going to get this thermostat. Let me bring that up a little bit closer to the camera so you can see. So this is going to give you easy temperature control. It's a simple digital thermostat that's going to let you easily adjust those settings. It has a clear backlit display, so the screen's gonna be easy to read in day or nighttime conditions, does come with hardware to get this installed into place. Overall height's gonna be about four inches. The width is 2.5 inches and about an inch thick. So everything that you need to get up and running, I do wanna mention that this kit is not going to be backwards compatible with any AC component or system from 2024 or earlier due to the fact that this uses the new R-32 refrigerant, which meets the 2025 EPA regulations. So if you have any other components or systems in your RV or camper from 2024 earlier, it will not be compatible with this system. What's nice about this kit is, each of the components here, the thermostat, the air distribution box, control box, everything is designed to work together and it's especially compatible with that R-32 refrigerant. One other thing I wanted to mention is a heat strip is available as a separate purchase. And that heat strip is not a furnace replacement, it's simply there just to take the chill out of the early morning fall air and if it wasn't cold enough to fire up the furnace, the heat strip would be a good option to consider. So if that's something that you're interested in, I am including our item number on your screen and you could add that to your order and it's gonna be a relatively easy install into this unit as well. Now, if you happen to have any other additional questions, whether it's about this system or any other systems that we carry here at etrailer.com, don't hesitate to reach back out to us. We do wanna be sure that you're getting exactly what you want and need. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy.
