Features to know about

Keeps Every Trailer Level: 8" Drop and 9" Rise

Different trailers rarely line up at the same height, but this adjustable mount keeps them all level and steady. The 180 Hitch gives you up to an 8" drop or 9" rise with easy 1" height adjustments along the aluminum shank. Set it where you need it, lock it in with the dual pins, and your trailer tracks straight without sway or uneven load handling.

Tows Heavy Loads with Confidence: Rated up to 18,500 lbs GTW

When you’re hauling serious weight, strength matters. This hitch handles up to 18,500 lbs with the 2-5/16" ball and 8,000 lbs with the 2" ball. The solid block 6061 T6 billet aluminum shank keeps things strong yet lightweight, while the chrome-plated steel balls add durability and corrosion resistance for long-term reliability under load.

Switches Between Trailers Fast: Dual-Ball Platform Built In

If you tow more than one trailer, swapping ball sizes should be quick. The double-sided platform holds both a 2" and a 2-5/16" ball—just remove the pins, flip the platform, slide it back into place, and go. There’s no need to keep track of loose parts or separate balls every time you hook up a different trailer.

Stows Out of the Way When You’re Done: Flip-Under Design

When you’re not towing, there’s no need to pull the hitch off your truck. The stowable design lets you flip the entire ball mount platform under the shank so it faces toward your vehicle. It stays clean, protects your shins, and keeps your setup ready for the next job without sticking out behind you.

Built for Everyday Use: Corrosion-Resistant Aluminum and Chrome Finish

From road salt to rain, towing gear sees plenty of abuse. The billet aluminum body and chrome-plated steel balls stand up to rust and grime so your hitch stays looking good and performing right over time. It’s gear you can leave in place season after season without worrying about corrosion or wear.

Video Transcript for Review of Weigh Safe 180 Hitch Chrome Balls - WS22RR

Hello, neighbors, Steven here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at our weight safe 180 hitch with an 8" drop for a 2-1/2" by 2-1/2" shank with nice chrome plated balls. So folks, this is gonna give you a nice connection point to hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle and be able to use multiple height trailer couplers with multiple height options here and different sized balls. Now the ball, as you know, provides the connection point for that trailer coupler. You got a 2" ball here rated at 8,000 pounds gross towing weight, or a 2-5/16" ball at 18,500 pounds. Now folks, this is a very nice, elegant, it's all aluminum build it aluminum 6061-T60 precise.

It's gonna give you superior strength. It's super light weight. And, again, the balls are hardened steel with a chrome plating over the top. So very strong. Either way, you're have to worry about rust or corrosion anytime soon.

Now when I got here, I wanted to give you some quick dimensions. From the center of the ball to the center of the pinholes, when I do the closest one, I got right at 8-1/2". And then when I did the farthest one, I got 9-5/8". And from the center of the hitch pinhole back to the back of the shank, I got 3" on the first one and on the farthest one back I got 1-7/8". Now this particular unit can do 8" of drop or 9" of rise.

You got 1" increments on here. You can simply flip it over to using the rise of the drop. But let's say you needed to use this drop, but you want a 2-5/16" ball. Well, pretty simply pull off the dust cover here. It protects that locking mechanism.

You got a set of tube keys, they're very hard to pick, and you simply insert that into the lock, unlock it, pull the dual locking pin out, simply slide the ball off, flip it over 180 degrees and you're right back in place. Now because I flipped it over, the locking pin is gonna be on my side now closest to me. So let's go ahead and get that lined up. And just like that, about 10, 15 seconds, I'm locked up, I'm ready to go with the other ball size, couldn't be much simpler, right So, again, you're gonna get this lockable. There is no hitch pin included. Most likely you already have one, but if you don't, I recommend a locking hitch pin. You can get them here etrailer.com sold separately. And that's a 5/8" hole that that pin is going through. Well folks, I think that we'll wrap it up for our quick look today. This has been the weight safe 180 hitch with chrome plated of balls and an 8" drop for a 2-1/2" by 2-1/2" shank. I'm Steven. Thanks for watching and stay safe while you're towing.

I needed a 7 inch drop for my boat trailer and I needed something easy to adjust up and down. I have a 2025 Chevy and I didn't want too much drop and hit the ground so I found this one after looking at 20 ball mounts.

Makes a little more noise (rattle) than my all steel non adjustable hitch

by:

Would say WOW ! Excellent communication from the second order was placed , tracking from start to finish. Super packing job and way quick delivery . Product is great , heavy built and easy to change based on what trailer I need to use . Wish I had bought one years ago !

by:

Hitch works well. Seems it could be a bit tighter when in receiver on truck but overall is a good purchase.

See what our Experts say about this Weigh Safe Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

  • Recommendation for a Drop Ball Mount for 2-1/2 Inch Hitch with a 2 Inch Ball
Hey Brian, the closest you can get to the Curt Ball Mount, # C33JR, with a 2-inch ball is to buy the shank and ball separately. The shank is part # C45460 and a 2-inch ball is part # A-90. I like the forged ball mounts and use one myself. You'll be limited to a 10K capacity with the 2-inch ball, so if you really want something with a pre-torqued/installed ball, the closest we can get you to that price range is the Weigh Safe 180 Adjustable ball mount, # WS22RR. Were there any other...

  • Availability of Adjustable Ball Mount for 2.5 inch Hitch that has 1-7/8 inch Ball
Hey Mark, so I have a solution for you but Weigh Safe doesn't have a dual ball mount for a 2.5 inch hitch that has a 1-7/8 inch ball option. Instead the closest option is the B and W Tow and Stow part # BW54FR which has all three popular ball sizes including the 1-7/8 inch ball. This fits the 2.5 inch hitch and is capable of same amount of rise/drop as well.
