Today, we're taking a look at our WeatherTech rear cargo area protector, which sits behind your second row here on our 2021 Audi Q7. Your Audi Q7 is a very versatile vehicle. You have your third row of seats. You can push a down real quick in order to have more cargo space. And when you do that, depending on what type of cargo you're carrying, you may want to use this cargo area protector to protect your vehicle. So we'll talk about how this is custom fit for your vehicle, where you fit it, how well it fits around the contours, and why you might be interested in other options if you're using your third row a lot.

This is a great option if you're using your cargo area a lot and for heavy duty stuff. This offers heavy duty protection that some other cargo area protectors do not offer. It is custom fit for your vehicle. So you can see how it is made of an HDTE material, which has a rigid plastic core but also a rubberized coating on top. That way, whether you have chemicals, or water, or liquids, or soda, it can hold up to those and not damage your interior.

When you get your cargo area protector, I do recommend letting it sit outside in the sun for a little bit. That way it gets a little bit more flexible and will fit to the contours of your vehicle a little bit more than we have it right now. But notice how it is custom fit. Meaning, you even have a special cutout for your seat belts. So it fits on those walls, around the seatbelt, and around your cargo area.

And if you're planning to carry around dirt, or plants, or mulch, you have the raised side wall. So even if you spill anything, this will hold in that dirt and debris. Meaning, it stays out of your vehicle and makes it easier for you to take out when you need to clean it off. The downside to this style though is, notice how the mat raises up as I try to raise our third row of seats. Once we have it fully opened, the mat just folds over and you can't really use it as a mat.

You are gonna have to take this off of your vehicle and store it somewhere else. So compared to more flexible cloth like cargo protectors, like the etrailer cargo area protector, this is designed to be used only when you need a cargo protector. Now you see this little open spot here Well, to add to the custom fit, you can see where the access to our bottom basement of our vehicle is. So if you want, you could actually cut this out to leave this accessible. Now there are different options for you. You can get this in different colors like cocoa or tan. Or, if you need a cargo area protector but also want to have that third row up, there is a version that covers from behind the third row to the trunk. But downside to that, is you don't have that versatility when you wanna lower the third row. It really is just gonna cover this area and not as much as our cargo protector here.
